Pathway to Licensure for Conditionally Certified Teachers in Public and Private Schools

Loyola University Maryland offers a pathway for conditionally certified teachers to receive their Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree and to be eligible for initial certification in Maryland.
This pathway is designed for teachers who are currently teaching in their desired certification area. Candidates may enroll in the part-time pathway to fulfill MAT degree and licensure requirements or candidates may select relevant coursework needed for alternative certification.

Admission Requirements
- Must be a full-time teacher of record in area of certification.
- Test scores are required for applicants with an overall GPA under 3.0 on the most recent degree earned. See our admission requirements for more information.
- Applicants must have required prerequisite courses in the desired area of certification. More information can be found on the elementary or secondary education program pages.
- Send official transcripts to mat@loyola.edu to determine if prerequisite courses have been met.
