Things to Do
Before

Summer Arrangements
Make travel plans, print maps and directions, and make hotel reservations, if needed.
Verify that all of your personal belongings are insured either through a
renters
or homeowners’ insurance policy.
Review and pay your bill prior to coming to campus.
Consider renting or purchasing new or used books through the
Loyola University Bookstore
.
Room Assignment/Roommates
Retrieve your
room assignment
and roommate information via your Loyola email in early August.
Start building a relationship with your roommates prior to arrival. Talk about expectations of living together.
Contact your roommates and decide what each of you is bringing to the room. For every person in a room, there is a bed, dresser, desk, and chair.
Select and confirm your check-in location, date, and time. Instructions are included in your assignment email.

Keep in mind that there are some items
prohibited in the halls
. These items will be confiscated if found during room inspections.
Label boxes with your name and Building/Room Number/Bedroom (For example, Campion 610, Bedroom A).
If you need to mail any items, they should be sent to your mail stop. You can find your mail stop number in RoomRez on the "My Assignment" page.
Things to Do
On
Move-In Day
Know where you are going and print your campus map before arrival.
Arrive at check-in at the assigned or selected move-in date and time, instructions can be found in your assignment email.
Park in a designated space to unload your belongings curb-side.
Once belongings are unloaded, move your vehicle to a permanent parking space, campus police can help you identify the closest place to park.
Our volunteers will be available to assist all first year students with move-in and will be directing traffic and providing information throughout campus on the main move-in days. Volunteer assistance is available at no cost to you. There will also be large bins with wheels that you may check out to use, however the person using the bin will be asked to sign it out and leave a driver’s license until the bin is returned. Please be aware that there are a limited number of bins, and there may be a wait time to obtain one.
Review the Room Condition Report (RCR) in your RoomRez portal. Instructions will be automatically emailed to you once you officially check-in. Report any repair issues to
Facilities Management.
Break down your moving boxes and bring them to designated recycling areas or take them home for reuse, take out all trash to designated dumpsters.

Check the folder that you get at check in for your orientation schedule, attend all events, and get to know your fellow Greyhounds!
Attend floor and hall meetings and take advantage of residential programs designed for you by the resident assistant on your floor.
Report any room repair issues to the
Service Request Site
throughout the year.

Final Reminders for a Successful Move-In
Label all packages and bags with your name, hall, and room number.
Know where you're going and how to get there by printing directions and maps before leaving home.
Bring a hand truck if you have one.
Never leave belongings unattended.
Make move-in a team effort— Loyola staff and volunteers are available to assist you.
Don’t forget your patience!
Plan for the weather.
Remember that common items are conveniently available at retail stores nearby.
