Stepf Richie Diaz
Stepf Richie Diaz they/them/theirs Associate Director for Residential Education

Stepf moved into the Associate Director of Recruitment and Staff Development role in July of 2022 after 3 years as the Assistant Director for Newman Towers. Stepf is originally from Queens, N.Y., and after living in rural central Pennsylvania for 10 years, they are excited to experience city living again. They attended Shippensburg University, where they earned their bachelor's and master's degrees in social work. While social work is often the field of choice for folks who want to be counselors, Stepf knew they wanted to use their degree to work with college students, specifically around the topics of identity, equity, and social justice. Prior to joining the residence life & housing team at Loyola, they served as the coordinator for multicultural programs at a small liberal arts college in Pennsylvania, where they created a social justice curriculum and a plethora of opportunities for students to celebrate their authentic selves. In addition to their work in the Office of Residence Life & Housing, Stepf just completed their second master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction for Social Justice here at Loyola! Their favorite part of their job is the time they get to spend connecting with students, faculty, staff, and administrators across campus about the things they are passionate about. If you are ever near the office, feel free to stop in, pull up a chair and tell them all about your latest fixation, causes you care about, or anything else that is on your mind.

When not in the office, Stepf can be found at local coffee shops, trivia nights, hanging out with their partner and cats, throwing axes, crafting, and spending a completely reasonable amount of time and money on tattoos, craft supplies, and Halloween decorations.
