At the Rizzo Career Center, we categorize these stages as Discover, Explore, Prepare, and Pursue. To give you a competitive edge, we provide coaching in all aspects of this career management process to help you leverage and build upon your professional accomplishments.

Career Coaching

Your Loyola career advisors are here to assist you with all of your career development needs, whatever they might be.  One-on-one appointments are available virtually or in-person at the Rizzo Career Center and can be scheduled on Handshake. Topics may include:

Discover

Strong Interest Inventory

One of the most popular and longest-used career assessments, the Strong helps you explore potential educational, career, and leisure activities matched with your preferences in a variety of areas. The Strong is a powerful tool at any stage in one’s career and complimentary for all Loyola graduate students. The inventory will be debriefed with you by one of our team’s certified Strong practitioners. Learn more about how to complete the Strong Interest Inventory.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator

This introspective self-report questionnaire identifies differing psychological perspectives and preferences in how people perceive the world and their surroundings. It has been used by the majority of Fortune 500 corporations and can help you better understand your leadership style and fit with different types of teams and career paths. Each graduate student has the option of being paired with an executive mentor to provide career insights, professional advice, and guidance while navigating their program.

Loyola Connect

Loyola Connect is our University’s central hub for students, alumni, parents, and friends of Loyola to find each other and reach out for conversations about career paths, industry-specific resume tips, job shadowing, and much more. Virtual Events with Employers

Handshake offers hundreds of virtual and in-person employer events, and you have access to all of them through your Handshake account. You can attend informational sessions, talk to recruiters, and learn more about opportunities at a variety of employers.

Big Interview Practice Software

Loyola is proud to partner with Big Interview to make their proven, step-by-step system of interview prep and practice available to Loyola students. The platform combines expert video lessons and an interactive interview practice tool to help you compete for the most coveted internships and jobs. Get started today.

Executives in Residence

Loyola has a group of highly experienced executives from various areas of business on our full-time teaching faculty. Learn more about each of our Executives in Residence. Limited appointments with each of them are available each week in the Career Center through Handshake

Pursue

Networking Events

Career Services and a variety of partners on campus host networking events for current students and alumni to gather throughout the year. All events are advertised in Handshake. In particular, keep an eye out for the Sellinger Speed Networking event each year, an opportunity for graduate students to travel around the room and spend time with executive-level alumni and other professionals in a speed dating format.

Career Fairs

While many people view college career fairs as only for undergraduates, they are phenomenal opportunities to meet alumni and recruiters seeking talent for top companies in our region. Particularly popular with our business students is Meet the Firms, our annual September fair for accounting, finance, and other business roles. Recent employers who attended Meet the Firms include KPMG, Morgan Stanley, PwC, SC&H Group, and T. Rowe Price. Our events page features upcoming fairs and events. Plus, you can research each attending company in depth beforehand using Handshake.
