In addition to supporting the independent programs and activities coordinated by ALANA student organizations, ALANA Services sponsors the following programs:
The pre-fall program is designed to assist first-year ALANA students in acclimating to campus life at Loyola. Specific objectives of the program are academic enhancement, intercultural exploration, social adjustment, community engagement, and service learning.
The ALANA Mentoring Program (AMP) pairs first-year and transfer students with upper-class students to assist them in acclimating to campus life at Loyola. The ALANA mentors play an integral role in working with students for the first year of their college experience, helping them find a sense of belonging, and adjusting to college academically and socially.
An affinity space for men of color that seeks to provide a supportive network where participants can engage in thoughtful discussion and self expression related to the challenges, celebrations, and complexities related to their experience at Loyola.
An affinity space for women of color that seeks to provide a supportive network that encourages and promotes empowerment and self-advocacy. Participants will engage in thought-provoking dialogue related to the challenges, celebrations, and complexities relatable to our experiences as women of color.
An interactive space for native and fluent Spanish speakers to connect and build community, while engaging in conversations about culture, diversity, and current events. Students looking to practice their Spanish speaking skills are also welcome.
The Black Student Association (BSA) Fashion Show began in 1998 as a campus-wide event to show Black culture, fashion and music through runway. Since 1998, the show has grown significantly larger with approximately 1,000+ persons in attendance, becoming one of Loyola's well known traditions as well as one of the largest attended events of the year! Students from all over campus participate in the event, highlighting cultural diversity through fashion, music, and choreography.
