Loyola University Maryland seeks an innovative, strategic, and collaborative leader to serve as provost and vice president for academic affairs. The provost is the university’s chief academic officer and oversees Loyola’s academic enterprise.
A champion for faculty and student success, the next provost will develop and implement an academic strategy that will enhance Loyola’s distinction and impact as an undergraduate and graduate institution in the Jesuit tradition anchored by the liberal arts.
Working in close partnership with newly inaugurated President Terrence M. Sawyer and in collaboration with university leaders, faculty, staff, and students, the next provost will build on Loyola’s rich history to position the university for the future, defining its place among leading higher education institutions and its role as a partner to the City of Baltimore.
Loyola University Maryland is one of 27 Jesuit institutions of higher education in the United States and the first to bear the name of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The Loyola community encompasses a diverse population of approximately 5,260 undergraduate and graduate students, more than 500 full-time and part-time faculty, 682 staff and administrators, and more than 70,000 alumni.

The university seeks a provost with intellectual vitality, a collegial and transparent leadership style, and the operational skills to lead within a complex academic institution. The successful candidate will appreciate the Ignatian principles that are the foundation of the institution, which foster inclusivity and belonging; advocate effectively on behalf of the liberal arts and an outstanding faculty; and strengthen a culture of academic excellence, service to the community, and student success.

A Ph.D. or earned terminal degree is required along with the experience and credentials to merit appointment as a tenured member of the Loyola University Maryland faculty. Candidates will be considered until an appointment is made.
