Where are English majors going after graduation? Some do not know. (See “Career Passport”) Others are doing a variety of cool and interesting things:

  • Caroline Barada, '16 will return home to San Francisco, where she has a job with a startup called Order Ahead. She hopes eventually to get into publishing or screenwriting.
  • Sophia Bell, '16 will be starting a paid internship in June with McBee Strategies in D.C.
  • Jean Gillingham, '16 will be a program assistant for JHU’s Center for Talented Youth in the summer and then will be getting married and moving to Italy with her new husband, who is in the U.S. Air Force. There she will continue work on her novel.
  • Kaitlyn Henry, '16 will be pursuing a Masters in Rhetoric at Carnegie Mellon.
  • Elesa Knowles, '16 will return home to seek certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) to add to her secondary education certification in English and will be working on her YA novel series.
  • Marilena Orfanos, '16 will begin work on a Loyola MAT in pursuit of teaching certification.
  • Wesley Peters, '16 will begin an M.S. in Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
  • Caroline Tell, '16 will be working for a clothing company in her hometown.
  • Thomas Johnson, '12 has been accepted into the Ph.D. program in film studies and popular culture at the University of Florida and will begin study there in the fall.
