  • Major Biology

This biology major says Loyola’s Jesuit values are teaching her to have compassion and empathy, traits that will be critical to her career as a dentist and in working with future patients. She also credits the faculty at Loyola who go above and beyond to provide guidance to their students—including her mentor, Maiju Lehmijoki-Gardner. Ph.D. Originally from Kiev, Ukraine, Paulina is the first in her family to attend college. She is a member of the Ignatius Scholar and F.I.R.S.T Programs. She is also an active member of Loyola’s Pre-Dental Society, the Biology Club, and the Pre-Health Programs executive board. Paulina participated in the Summer Health Professions Education Program, an immersion program that prepares students for careers in health care. Paulina loves Loyola because of the resources available to students. “From research opportunities to free tutoring to interview training at the Career Center, Loyola sets up each student for success and provides real-world preparedness.”
