About Us

The Loyola University Maryland Department of Public Safety is comprised of the campus police and the support operations divisions.

The department consists of 45 sworn campus police officers who have full police powers authorized by the Governor of the State of Maryland, under the Maryland Code Public Safety Title 3; Subtitle 3; Section 3-301. These officers provide a 24 hour a day police presence on the Loyola campus using foot, bicycle, and motorized patrol. Each shift is supervised by two shift leaders.

The support operation division consists of the emergency communications dispatch center (base) and the access control unit. Base is the central monitoring point for all 911 emergency calls, campus alarm systems, card key access control, video surveillance, and fire alarm.
