Everyone Has a Strong Truth

It may be undiscovered or unrecognized, but Loyola may be the perfect place to discover yours. Ask a Loyola student, “What is your strong truth?” and get prepared for the answer… “We have a responsibility to give back.” “Believe in yourself.” “International travel changes everything.” The answers are as different as our students, but they are all full of conviction, determination, and hope. Just ask Lauren

Lauren's Strong Truth

“Everything comes together and you know Loyola is really unique and special.”

On her college tour, Lauren visited 15 schools. Loyola was one of the last ones she saw. She was sitting in Knott Hall, listening to the tour guide when suddenly she felt a connection to the guide—and to Loyola itself.

“The class sizes were small. I knew I’d be able to get to know my fellow students and professors. I wanted to be in a city,” she says. “Everything else just fell into place.”

Lauren hopes to apply her degree in communication to a career in public relations, working with media or television, or as a sports reporter.

“Loyola has thoroughly prepared me for the future—academically, emotionally, professionally, and personally. I’ve had the opportunity to become very close with several communication professors who have been great mentors. GreyComm has afforded me a skillset with video, shooting, and media. My experience helped me get my position as a sports public relations intern at IMRE Communications here in Baltimore.”

Lauren says the many resources, both financial and in terms of equipment, that Loyola makes available to students are what set it apart from other universities. “I can say with confidence I would not be learning what I am learning at another school.”
